A trailer wheel that looks right can still be wrong for the job. A mismatched bolt circle will not mount. The wrong offset can put a tire into the fender or overload a bearing. A wheel with an inadequate rating may hold air in the yard, then become the weak point when the trailer is loaded for a long run.

That sounds basic, but trailers regularly get fitted with whatever is available, especially when a replacement is needed fast. Start With Load Rating, Not Wheel Finish
A wheel has one primary job: carry its assigned share of the load without cracking, bending, or loosening at the mounting face. Start with the axle rating and the trailer’s gross vehicle weight rating. Then confirm that each wheel is rated for at least the load it will support.
For a tandem-axle trailer, it is tempting to divide the trailer’s GVWR by four and call it done. Real-world loading is not always that even. Count the studs, then measure the bolt circle accurately. On an even-numbered pattern, measure from the center of one stud directly across to the center of the opposite stud.
